Trading Recap Focus Video
Despite expectations for thin, post–New Year trading, the session delivered multiple high-quality opportunities across Tesla, Nvidia, and Apple. The video walks through how focusing on what’s in front of you—not what you “should have traded”—keeps a trading business disciplined. A standout example was a textbook Nvidia Infield Fly short setup planned and executed in the room, offering clear entries, defined risk, and strong mean-reversion potential. The recap reinforces a core lesson: stay patient, wait for the next setup, trade the inflection—not the emotion—and let structured plans do the work.

Market Recap: Diverging Tape as Big Tech Weakens
Today’s market action was defined by divergence under the surface, not broad risk-off selling. The Nasdaq sold off, the S&P 500 churned sideways, and the Dow managed a steady rally, reflecting a rotation rather than panic.
The pressure on the Nasdaq came primarily from weakness in mega-cap growth and semiconductor names, as profit-taking emerged after recent strength. With rates stable but still elevated, traders continued to fade extended tech moves, especially where momentum became parabolic. This weighed on index-heavy names like NVDA and TSLA, dragging the Nasdaq lower despite pockets of intraday opportunity.
Meanwhile, the S&P 500 spent most of the session grinding sideways, caught between tech weakness and strength in defensive and value-oriented sectors. That balance produced tight ranges and choppy price action — enough rotation to prevent a selloff, but not enough leadership to spark a rally.
The Dow outperformed as capital rotated into industrials, financials, and value stocks, which benefited from steadier earnings expectations and less sensitivity to rate and valuation concerns. With fewer mega-cap tech names in the index, the Dow was insulated from the Nasdaq’s drag and able to trend higher.
