Trading Tesla Around VWAP: Lessons From Today’s Action
In today’s session, we broke down several key intraday setups in Tesla (TSLA), focusing on how price action behaved around the Volume Weighted Average Price (VWAP) and standard deviation bands.
The morning trend was clearly lower, and our first short entry came as TSLA rallied back into VWAP — a classic retest area where institutional bias often shows its hand. That setup, combined with a 38.2% retracement, gave us an early trade down to our $318.32 target.
As the day unfolded, TSLA repeatedly tested VWAP and two standard deviation levels, creating a series of scaling opportunities. While some entries looked shaky at first, patience and disciplined trade management paid off. Scaling into shorts near 322–323 allowed us to ride retracements back toward VWAP and the mean reversion line at $321.83, locking in multiple points per trade.
We also highlighted two of our Around the Horn intraday patterns — the Infield Fly and Double Header — which gave reliable reversal signals throughout the session. These setups, paired with RSI momentum confirmation, kept us aligned with the broader Nasdaq trend, as Tesla moved in near lockstep with the index all day.
The big takeaway:
-
VWAP is your roadmap. Below it, short setups have edge; above it, long bias gains traction.
-
Two standard deviation moves offer high-probability reversion targets back to the mean.
-
Scaling with discipline allows trades that start red to finish green.
It wasn’t about the number of trades — just four solid setups on TSLA today — but about position sizing, timing, and conviction at key levels.
