Today's Trading Recap
Today’s market was MU-led, but not a clean everything rally.
Micron gave the market exactly what it needed after the recent AI/semiconductor wobble: proof that AI infrastructure demand is still real, urgent, and translating into hard numbers. MU was up roughly 14.6% near the close, while QQQ was positive but well off its opening strength, and SPY was roughly flat/slightly lower. NVDA fading red showed that the tape was still selective, not a full-blown risk-on stampede.
The important part of MU earnings was not just the beat. Micron reported $41.46B in revenue vs. $35.85B expected, adjusted EPS of $25.11 vs. $20.78 expected, and guided next-quarter EPS well above estimates. More importantly, customers committed $22B to lock in memory-chip supply, with strategic agreements, deposits, pricing floors, and take-or-pay structures. That tells the market memory is no longer being treated like a simple commodity cycle — it is becoming a critical AI infrastructure bottleneck.
Trading recap read: MU reignited the AI/memory trade, but the broader market still showed hesitation. The best action was in memory and select semis, while megacap tech remained choppy. That makes today less of a broad market breakout and more of a targeted leadership day where traders needed to follow the strongest theme rather than assume the whole Nasdaq would trend cleanly.
