Confluence Between the Lines
In this trade review, I break down a Tesla short that developed as TSLA began losing momentum and formed an Infield Fly reversal setup on the 5-minute chart.
The setup itself came from price action—but the real insight came from watching how Bookmap liquidity and SpotGamma HIRO behaved around the trade.

Today's Trading Recap
Post-Market Recap — September 1, 2026
U.S. stocks opened September under pressure Tuesday as a combination of surging oil prices, rising Treasury yields, and renewed geopolitical tensions with Iran weighed on risk appetite. By 3:00 p.m. ET, the S&P 500 was down roughly 0.8%, the Dow was lower by about 450 points, and the Nasdaq had fallen around 1.1%.
The biggest macro influence was another escalation in the conflict with Iran. Renewed U.S. military strikes raised concerns about disruptions around the Strait of Hormuz, driving crude sharply higher. Brent climbed roughly 4%–5% toward the mid-$90s, while WTI approached $90. The move benefited energy shares but revived concerns that higher fuel prices could keep inflation elevated.
At the same time, the global bond selloff pushed Treasury yields higher, creating another headwind for equities. The 10-year Treasury approached 4.8%, intensifying pressure on long-duration growth stocks and increasing speculation that the Federal Reserve may have to remain restrictive—or potentially raise rates again—if energy-driven inflation persists.
Technology and semiconductors absorbed much of the selling, with Microsoft, AMD and other growth names among the notable drags. Higher yields make richly valued technology stocks particularly sensitive because they reduce the present value investors assign to future earnings. Energy was the clear relative winner as Exxon, Shell and other producers benefited from the crude rally.
Economic data provided only limited relief. Job openings slipped to roughly 7.27 million, while manufacturing readings remained mixed. Earlier in the session, softer economic numbers briefly pulled longer-term yields off their highs and allowed stocks to recover from the morning lows, but the improvement was not enough to overcome the broader oil-and-rates narrative.
What Matters for Traders
Today’s price action reinforces the market’s current sensitivity to oil and bond yields. For day traders, that means crude, the 10-year yield and geopolitical headlines remain unusually important intermarket indicators. A fresh spike in oil or yields can quickly produce another downside impulse in the Nasdaq and high-beta technology names, while stabilization in either could generate sharp short-covering rallies.
The market also enters a seasonally difficult period: September has historically been one of the weakest months for U.S. equities, which could amplify reactions to geopolitical and inflation-related headlines.
For Wednesday: watch whether crude can hold near $90–$95, whether the 10-year remains near 4.8%, and whether today’s weakness attracts buyers or begins developing into a broader September risk-off move. With important labor-market data still ahead this week, volatility should remain elevated.
Bottom line: Tuesday was less about deteriorating corporate fundamentals and more about a renewed inflation/rates/geopolitical shock. Oil higher → inflation expectations higher → yields higher → pressure on growth stocks. That chain remains the key market tell heading into tomorrow.
